A gang of five were arrested Saturday after they allegedly made off with 85 bitcoin ATM machines, taken from a warehouse in the Malaysian town of Seremban.
According to a report in The Sun Daily, police arrested four men and a woman thought to be involved in taking the machines worth 42,500 Malaysian ringgit, or $10,300.
After the machines went missing, a shopkeeper lodged a police report on Oct. 29. Subsequently, police arrested the suspects, all of whom were friends and between the ages of 25 and 46.
The group allegedly rented an adjacent premises to the warehouse and used drills to bore through the wall and remove the machines, according to the report.
In a press conference, Seremban’s police chief said all the suspects were nabbed in separate raids around Seremban and Nilai between midnight and early morning.
“Some of the suspects were working as traders and construction workers while others were unemployed,” he said.
